The Republic of Cape Verde is a republic located on an archipelago island in the North Atlantic Ocean 375 miles off the coast of northwest Africa. Cape Verde is a stable democracy. The constitution forms the basis of government. Cape Verde has few natural resources. The economy is service-oriented, with commerce, transport, and public services accounting for more than 70% of GDP. Most of the people are Christian. A new Penal code made in 2004 has now completely decriminalized homosexuality in Cape Verde with an equal age of consent.
