Pink Dot is coming to Hong Kong in June

The first ever Pink Dot Hong Kong, a non-political LGBT celebration, will be coming to Hong Kong on Sunday 15 June 2014 at Tamar Park.

Owing to the success of Pink Dot Singapore, which has been held yearly since 2009, Hong Kong’s LGBT community have felt inspired to hold their own event. Pink Dot Hong Kong is co-organised by the BigLove Alliance and Pink Alliance, and supported by The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong.

Pink Dot Hong Kong 2014 has the theme of ‘We are Family: The Free to Love’, and is a great chance for LGBT in Hong Kong to enjoy a day with friends, families and colleagues and to celebrate inclusiveness, diversity, and love equality.

Chief Campaigner of BigLove Alliance, Brian Leung, explains what makes Pink Dot unique. “Hong Kong already hosts a couple of well-known and well-attended public LGBT events but we felt that the city still needed one that was more inclusive. The Pink Dot concept is especially designed to strongly include not only all members of the local LGBT community but also their families and straight allies.”

The event will be held in the afternoon of Sunday 15 June on the green lawns of Tamar Park in central Hong Kong with a broad view of the picturesque Victoria Harbour. The progam includes an outdoor picnic and fair as well as entertainment provided Hong Kong stars, Denise Ho and Anthony Wong.
