Peter Njane the Executive Director of ISHTAR told Behind the Mask, “I got to meet Simon in 2003, he and I were very good friends. We hung out a lot and since he was independent at a young age while I was still living at my parent’s house, I often visited him at his place. He was so jovial and was constantly upbeat and always making fun. He got involved with ISHTAR and trained as a peer educator in 2009. His departure is a big blow to ISHTAR and to me.”
The news of Mamicha’s death surprised and shocked members of the Kenyan LGBTI community as his friends and family come to terms with the news.
Details of the funeral arrangements are yet to be communicated.
