A suspected gay couple, one of whom was wearing female apparel including a skirt, wig and blouse has been arrested in Kadoma. The couple confessed after a body search by policemen that one of them was not a “woman.” The “woman” had to show male organs to prove that indeed he was a man after policemen indicated that they were summoning a female officer to do a body search.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara, confirmed the incident adding that the two had since appeared before a Kadoma magistrate facing sodomy charges as defined in section 73(i) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. Police got a tip-off that the couple was dealing in counterfeit South African Rand in the Waverley Suburb on Sunday and they made a follow up.
Detectives from CID Law and Order arrested Ability Chatira Mpofu (24) of Shurugwi and Blessing Chauke (28) of Chiredzi at Waverley Beerhall. Chauke was putting on a white skirt, female skin tight, earrings and a wig.
“Our officers tried to call a female officer to search Blessing Chauke who was dressed in all-female apparel,” he said.
Chauke then confessed that he was a man in female clothes before showing the detectives his male organs to prove his claims.
Upon further questioning, they indicated that they had been customarily married since 2011 when they were illegally working in South Africa’s Petersburg Town as game keepers.
When they arrived in the country on July 29, 2012, they further claimed, they went to stay at Mpofu’s home at Village 9, Dorset in Shurugwi. Three days before their arrest they had moved to number 1493 Waverley, Kadoma which is again Mpofu’s home.
According to the two, Mpofu paid the bride price and had been at the forefront in fending for Chauke who is the “female” part in the arrangement.
A search at the house led to the recovery of Lemonvet and Carolite skin lightening creams, a black wig, a white dress, black long skin tight pants and beards among other things.
Investigations so far have revealed that the 1 400 Rand that was found in their possession was genuine.
They were remanded in custody to today.
