A gay LGBT activist has been found dead in his home in Jamaica.
Dexter Pottinger’s body was found with multiple stab wounds earlier this week on Thursday.
It is not yet known when Pottinger was killed because he was found decomposing.
The death of the activist, who was also a fashion designer and model, has shaken the community.
His brother found him after he failed to turn up to a scheduled shoot.
Police have not released a lot of information about the death of the activist so it is unclear if the murder was motivated by homophobia.
They found his car which was missing nearby.
However, neighbours have said that they heard him screaming in his apartment on Tuesday but they did not report it to authorities.
Pottinger was the face of Jamaica Pride last year.
Family, friends and fans of his have shared moving messages online remembering him.
“One of the most homophobic countries in the world. Rest in peace beautiful man. The s world is full of evil. Too much of it,”one person wrote.
Another added: “May his memory be a blessing to those he loved and to those who loved him. A total tragedy.”
“Even though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the change he sought to bring. Rest In Peace to this inspiring man,” a third wrote.
Nikki Z, a media personality in the country who was close to Pottinger, said that he would be sadly missed.
“He lived life just like his pictures. What you see in the pictures is exactly who the man is. He was colourful.
“You never knew what to expect. It was always something vibrant and new,” she said.
Recording artist Ce’Cile, another close friend of Pottingers, said that he did not “deserve this”.
“This wicked person will see how much friends you have, and they will be brought to justice,” she wrote on Instagram.
