Olympic champion Nicola Adams toasts her success at 2012 games by visiting one of London’s biggest gay clubs
Boxing champion Nicola Adams proved she is a knock-out in the club as well as the ring after being spotted celebrating winning Olympic gold at G-A-Y.
The first time games winner was smiling ear to ear when out enjoying drinks with friends in one of central London’s biggest gay clubs on Saturday (11 August).
Club promoter Jeremy Joseph told Gay Star News: ‘She was really nice. You don’t expect it really. I kept thinking, you are far too nice – how is it that you can floor someone in the ring and be this nice?
‘I recognised her as soon as I saw her, she’s not any old olympic gold medalist, she’s kinda special.’
Having been featured in the BBC’s ‘6 Promising Britons to watch in the Olympics’, Adams did not disappoint.
She defeated Mary Kom from India in the flyweight semifinal and then went on to knock three time world champion Ren Cancan to the ground in the final, winning Team GB’s first Olympic women’s boxing gold medal in history.
After having his photograph taken with the Olympian, Mr Joseph tweeted: ‘Guess which one is an Olympic gold medalist & the first woman to win a gold medal for boxing? OK to difficult a questionm it’s me.’
He told GSN: ‘We have had other medal winners in from different countries already, but as soon as I saw Nicola I had to go over and congratulate her!’
