LGBT youth leaders under serious death threats
Center for Social Emancipation (QESh) and the Youth Initiative for Human Rights demand from the Kosovo Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation of the case of serious threats to leader of QESh and bring the perpetrators in front of the justice.
The threat letter was sent to the leader of Centre for Social Emancipation Mr. K.Z. on May 24th, 2007. Mr. K.Z. reported the case to the police who initially refused to open an investigation because it was not a serious case according to their opinion. The chief of the shift said that such threats are not considered serious and that he should initiate a private lawsuit. We believe that Mr. Z’s right to use all the possible legal remedies has been violated by the Police Officers and his privacy was not respected as he was being interviewed at the reception room, at least seven different police officers and random citizens walked into the room, thus stopping the interview process and finding out what had happened.
The worrying letter is a threat for Mr. Z’s life because it calls for his family to prepare his funeral within two weeks. The letter starts in the name of Allah, and curses Mr. Z for his activities saying that he will end up in hell. In addition the letters reads the following: ‘We will fu.. your mother, burn you with all your belongings, and will make you carry your intestines with your own hands, you lewd man’. The sender(s) of the letter accuse Mr. Z and his group for smearing the pure and freedom seeking nation and say they will cut Mr. Z’s head and that of his group. This letter was sent from an email address (translation) sharpknife.
